Milton Keynes, UK, 4 November 2026 – UK adventurers can order the latest generation of the legendary California campervan from today. Prices start from £54,065 (excluding VAT)¹ with first deliveries expected in early 2027, just in time for the summer season.

The Volkswagen California is an icon of freedom and adventure, allowing drivers to travel in comfort and style wherever the road takes them. Whether for a family holiday, romantic getaway, or solo trip, there is a California for every need.

The designers have restyled the front end of the California below the bonnet. The LED headlights are a defining visual feature. They are now larger, giving the characteristic VW Bus face an even sharper appearance.

The campervan has been updated with power latching sliding doors and tailgate, alongside new alloy wheel designs, ranging from 17- to 19-inch.

Inside, the cockpit has been redesigned, now featuring a 12.9-inch infotainment system. This acts as a central hub for everything from navigation, media, smartphone integration, to camping monitoring functions. Along with the 10-inch driver’s digital cockpit, the new California offers a sophisticated control centre for your home away from home, with everything you need for long journeys and cosy evenings.

Specific to the California eHybrid 4MOTION, a new electric stationary air conditioning system allows the campervan to be electrically cooled, ventilated and heated for up to eight hours while charging, parked or camping, ideal for sleeping in comfort whatever the weather.

The interior benefits from updated, high-quality materials for a premium finish and enhanced comfort. This includes California-bespoke fabric and colour scheme with improved smartphone charging capacity (25 W wireless or 60 W USB-C), and new ambient lighting.

New colour variations join the line-up, bringing the total number of options to 19 across solid, two-tone and metallic paint, in addition to an optional black roof. The new options include: Grenadilla Black, Grey Brown, Reed Green, and Sunset Red (all metallic), as well as the two-tone choices Candy White / Grey Brown and Grenadilla Black / Sunset Red.

Finally, the new California brings updates to safety and comfort through software and driver assistance systems. The latest generation of the Travel Assist system enables assisted lane changing on motorways and, for the first time, includes traffic light recognition. It also provides integrated Emergency Assist, which guides the vehicle to the hard shoulder or outermost lane in the case of the driver suffering a medical emergency. Together, these updates keep drivers and families safer on the roads, letting you take on adventures in the comfort of your campervan.
