Milton Keynes, 23 July, 2026 – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has expanded the abilities of its industry-leading California Mobile App to make camping in the UK and beyond easier than ever before.

The app has been enhanced ready for the 2026 summer getaway, with a number of new functions and a completely new look making it a powerful, easy-to-use tool for any trip.

Camping Spot Search
New advanced filters and additional information on camping spots makes choosing your next destination simple. With more than 45,000 locations across the British Isles, customers can find and save favourite camping spots using the new bookmarking options. This information is easily retrievable for future trips and can be shared with friends quickly and precisely.

The integration of what3words further changes the way people can use the app and find their location, anywhere in the world. Every three metre square of the world has been given a unique combination of three words to identify precise location, ensuring accurate navigation on the road less travelled, while acting as a great tool for emergencies.

Travel Hub
Customers can get excited about upcoming adventures, with trip dates, images, and a countdown feature. It’s an excellent way to make plans and find nearby scenic spots – locations which users may not otherwise encounter.

Remote Control
The updated user interface allows users to view important vehicle data easily and accurately, harnessing the latest synchronisation technology. Fresh water levels, cabin temperature, and the auxiliary battery state of charge can be remotely checked to ensure the trip remains stress free and fun for the whole family.

From the convenience of their phone, California owners can now also raise and lower the hydraulic-electric pop-up roof as well as control the cool box (raise or lower the temperature).²
