Hanover, 23 September 2026 – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is expanding the ID. Buzz Cargo range with a new model: the Cargo with long wheelbase (LWB). This increases the load compartment volume to 4.4 m3. Pre-sales of the large ID. Buzz Cargo with 250 kW and 4MOTION all-wheel drive will start on 23 September 2026 at prices from €50,630 (net).1 The rear-wheel drive version will follow next week (from €48,490 net1). In the UK, order books will open in early 2027, with market introduction planned for spring. In contrast to the ID. Buzz Cargo with normal wheelbase, the ID. Buzz Cargo LWB will come with a second sliding door as standard. The additional cost for the extended version will be around €2,3401 (net list price, example Germany).
More load space: the ID. Buzz Cargo LWB offers an additional 0.5 m3 of stowage space in the load compartment. At 2,458 mm, the load area is 250 mm longer than with the normal wheelbase. The width between the wheel housings is 1,230 mm. Depending on the drive system, the maximum payload is up to 700 kg (RWD) or 606 kg (AWD). The long Cargo is equipped with a wooden floor and a second sliding door as standard. The door is 19 cm wider – so a Euro pallet can now fit through the sliding door. As usual, the Cargo LWB is available as a two- or three-seater and, recently, also with a manually adjustable lumbar support.
Rear-wheel or all-wheel drive: the ID. Buzz Cargo LWB is available with a large boot lid and optionally with rear wing doors. In the version with long wheelbase, the ID. Buzz Cargo has an 86-kWh battery on board (normal wheelbase: 79 kWh). The system power is 210 kW (286 PS). If the new ID. Buzz Cargo LWB is combined with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive, the system power increases to 250 kW (340 PS). The maximum towing capacity of the large ID. Buzz Cargo is always 1,800 kg (braked on 8% and 12% gradients).
New traffic light recognition function: like all ID. Buzz models, the extended ID. Buzz Cargo will also leave the Hanover plant with the latest ID. software. This includes a larger and even more innovative range of functions. One example is the new evolutionary stage of the optional Travel Assist: for the first time, Travel Assist now also reacts to traffic lights; at a red traffic light, the assist system automatically2 brakes the ID. Buzz Cargo to a standstill. Another new feature is one-pedal driving, which allows for powerful deceleration and recuperation to a standstill of the VW Bus through control of the accelerator alone.
Vehicle-to-Load: the new software generation also introduces the Vehicle-to-Load function in the ID. Buzz. This enables electrical devices to be powered directly from the vehicle battery. External tools such as circular saws and other electrical devices can then be operated via the high-voltage battery. Continuous operation or charging at 3.0 kW is possible via an adapter – the PowerSocket – at the Mode 3 connection of the charging socket (peak power: 3.6 kW). The PowerSocket is available in two versions: with a Schuko plug (domestic power outlet) or as a CEE 230 V version (camping socket).
Infotainment with new services: the ID. Buzz Cargo also features the new Innovision infotainment system with a new app store. This allows functions and services to be activated or extended digitally, flexibly and on a vehicle-specific basis. Like with a smartphone, popular apps from areas such as audio, video streaming, parking, charging and gaming are available here for download. Operation of the ID. Buzz Cargo is additionally enhanced by a multifunction steering wheel with newly designed buttons.
