  • New chapter: With the STX Concept, Vauxhall presents a vision for future estate cars at the Paris Motor Show
  • Bolder, purer, even more emotional: New Vauxhall Vizor lighting signature with lamella light animations and even more prominent vertical Vauxhall Compass and illuminated emblem plus clean, downward-sloping rear
  • Pure efficiency: Intelligent aerodynamic solutions with extendable diffuser elements and alloy wheels in a three-zone design
  • New identity: STX Concept becomes the first Vauxhall to feature the brand’s new Griffin emblem

Vauxhall reveals the Sports Tourer eXperimental Concept, or STX Concept for short. The naming indicates that Vauxhall is showing its vision of future estates. The abbreviation ‘ST’ is closely associated with Vauxhall’s latest Sports Tourer models, such as the New Astra Sports Tourer. But the STX Concept is more. It also symbolises the next stage of Vauxhall's design philosophy – even bolder, even purer, even more emotional and even more efficient.

Eurig Druce, Vauxhall Managing Director & Stellantis UK Group Managing Director, said: “Vauxhall was an estate pioneer in the UK as early as the 1950s. With the STX Concept, we are reimagining the estate for the electric era, combining bold, visionary design with functionality, efficiency and driving pleasure. Featuring our new Griffin emblem, this study previews the next step in our Bold and Pure design philosophy and explores distinctive features that could influence future Vauxhall models.”

New Griffin for a new era

The STX Concept is the first Vauxhall to wear the brand’s new Griffin emblem, continuing a design lineage that has appeared on Vauxhall vehicles for more than 120 years. The sharper, more streamlined interpretation marks a new era for one of the automotive industry’s most recognisable logos, retaining the Griffin’s essential character while introducing a cleaner, more angular design and removing the flag for the first time. Created to appear clearer when illuminated at the centre of the Vauxhall Vizor, it complements the next evolution of the brand’s Bold and Pure design language and will feature on the next all-new Vauxhall production model, set to be revealed in 2027.

Future design: New Vauxhall Vizor is bolder and more confident

The STX Concept reimagines the electric estate car, previewing Vauxhall’s next design ambition while combining advanced engineering and intelligent technologies to deliver driving pleasure. It also continues Vauxhall’s long tradition as an estate pioneer in the UK, which dates back to the 1950s and has continued through generations of practical, stylish models to today’s Astra Sports Tourer.

At the heart of the Vauxhall STX Concept is the belief that forward-looking technology should amplify the emotional appeal of a car, not diminish it. The concept is a modern expression of Vauxhall engineering, combining intelligent technology with bold, precise design to create an electric car that is as efficient as it is emotional.

One of the most distinctive features is the latest evolution of the Vauxhall Vizor. The brand’s characteristic front fascia adopts an even bolder, taller, and more prominent appearance, complementing the proportions of the vehicle. Its new lighting signature features precisely defined, angled vertical elements that form the outer edges of the Vizor before gradually fading towards the centre. Here, the new illuminated Vauxhall Griffin sits within the Vauxhall Compass design signature, while the characteristic bonnet crease is emphasised by the sharp, sporting front design.

The rear follows the same bold and pure approach. Its clean, steeply sloping profile combines a distinctive appearance with the practical benefit of additional load space. The Vauxhall Compass is expressed with even greater precision through slim, illuminated axes and an illuminated VAUXHALL wordmark at the centre, while the horizontal rear lights echo the vertical-element treatment at the front.

Attention to detail extends across the STX Concept’s flush, precisely shaped body surfacing, giving it a distinctive technical character. At the C-pillars, glass light strips extend rearwards from the window line and continue into the roof to create a striking visual signature. Illuminated ‘STX’ lettering along the sides tapers towards the front, while geometrically precise cameras replace conventional door mirrors, reinforcing the combination of technical innovation and desirable design.

High-speed efficiency: Precisely shaped body and intelligent aerodynamic solutions

Viewed from the side, the STX Concept’s silver-and-blue body is defined by a low, aerodynamic silhouette designed to enhance long-distance efficiency and stability at higher speeds. Short overhangs, sculpted bodywork, and pronounced wheelarches emphasise its long, bold proportions.

Aerodynamic efficiency is central to the STX Concept. Its intelligent solutions are designed to reduce energy consumption and increase range, while supporting stability and driving pleasure. These include aerodynamically optimised three-section alloy wheels, paying homage to retro models such as the Nova and first Corsa that sported similar alloy wheel designs, fitted with 285/35 R22 Goodyear tyres.

An active aerodynamic system continuously adapts to the driving conditions, using moving elements at the rear to optimise airflow, reduce drag and improve stability. At the appropriate speed, blue-coloured diffusers extend from beneath the rear, while vertical elements behind the wheels move outwards to support the streamlined profile.

Together, these features help transfer the concept car’s performance safely and efficiently to the road.

The STX Concept combines an innovative electric architecture with all-wheel drive and a top speed of more than 124mph, demonstrating that efficiency, performance, and driving pleasure can go hand in hand in the electric era.

The interior is conceived around the same experience. In the future, the designers and engineers will realise an interior that develops the ‘Painting with Light’ approach introduced by the 2023 Vauxhall Experimental and the 2025 Vauxhall Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, complemented by specially developed lightweight seats and immersive lighting elements.

More than a show car, the STX Concept previews the future development of the estate body style and introduces design elements that will appear on future Vauxhall models. Its sculptural, expressive interpretation of Vauxhall’s Bold and Pure design language integrates the technologies of tomorrow into a clear and coherent overall design.

The STX Concept will have its public debut on Monday, 12th October at the Paris Motor Show 2026.

ABOUT VAUXHALL MOTORS

Vauxhall Motors started making cars in the UK in 1903. Today, as the oldest and most familiar of Britain’s automotive manufacturers, its philosophy is to build vehicles that are relevant to all and offer design, high levels of equipment and technology, and electrification at an attainable level. Vauxhall is one of few automotive brands to produce electric vehicles in Britain at its manufacturing plant in Ellesmere Port – the UK’s first electric-only manufacturing plant where the Combo Electric van is made. Vauxhall’s Electric Streets of Britain campaign raises the profile of the need for more on-street electric vehicle charging so that everyone can benefit from the switch to electric.  Find out more at www.electricstreets.co.uk

Vauxhall is proud to be the official automotive partner of Team GB. The partnership sees Britain's most loved sports team and one of Britain’s most recognisable automotive brands joining forces, with Vauxhall supporting athletes as they prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Vauxhall is part of Stellantis NV, a global leader created for the new era of sustainable mobility as a result of the merger between Groupe PSA and FCA Group in January 2021. Vauxhall is a leader in electrification – as of 2021, it was one of the first manufacturers to offer fully electric versions of all its vans. Since the end of 2024, Vauxhall has offered a fully electric version of every model in its car and van line-up. Info: www.vauxhall.co.uk
