  • Toyota presents its end-to-end vehicle development approach at the new Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama.
  • Design, engineering, testing and repair brought together at one integrated site, focusing on intensive, real-world driving cycles.
  • The event marked the global premiere of the all‑new Lexus TZ, Lexus’s first three‑row BEV SUV, developed at Shimoyama.
  • Purpose‑built test courses replicate demanding real‑world conditions, reinforcing Toyota’s philosophy that “roads build cars” and accelerating continuous improvement with “Drive, Break, Fix” philosophy.
  • Toyota also demonstrated future mobility and disaster‑response initiatives, including helicopter‑based transport trials and community disaster preparedness activities.

Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) today held a media and stakeholder event at the new Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama (TTC-S), its research and development centre in Toyota City/Okazaki City, Japan.

The event showcased the front line of its ever-better car-making initiatives – where a cycle of highly intense driving, intentional breaking, rapid on-site fixing and then retesting is carried out.

To add emphasis to the occasion, the event featured the global premiere of a product of this end-to-end development approach, the all-new Lexus TZ.

As part of its future mobility initiatives, the showcase also featured demonstrations that including helicopter transportation tests and disaster preparedness drills held with local authorities and communities.
