The new Renault Trafic E-Tech electric is ready for business, with UK pricing for the brand’s first software-defined vehicle starting from £38,000 + VAT.
Built to take on the demands of a full working day, Trafic E-Tech electric combines up to 292 miles of electric range and ultra-fast charging with the load-carrying ability, manoeuvrability and everyday versatility that have made the original Trafic so popular. Furthermore, as Renault’s first software-defined vehicle, it’s designed to keep getting better long after the first owner has taken delivery.
The UK line-up comprises two trim levels – advance and extra – with two body lengths, panel van and crew van configurations, and a choice of 60kWh or 81kWh batteries. Already crowned International Van of the Year 2027, the new Trafic E-Tech electric will be available for pre-order from 5th November.
A van that moves with the times
Trafic E-Tech electric is designed to keep pace as the demands of the owner’s job change. As Renault’s first software-defined vehicle (SDV), it can gain new features and improved functionality throughout its working life, rather than being limited to the technology fitted when it leaves the factory.
But the benefits span far beyond software updates. Its advanced electronic architecture allows businesses to integrate their own applications directly into the vehicle’s systems. Delivery companies, for example, can display schedules, routes and job details on the dashboard, while specialist conversions such as refrigerated vans can use dedicated apps to manage onboard equipment.
The technology also opens the door to more sophisticated remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance, helping operators to avoid downtime. Combined with the ability to continually improve and adapt the vehicle’s functions, it means new Trafic E-Tech electric is designed to work smarter, for longer.
More miles, less downtime
Whether it’s making deliveries across town or covering longer distances between jobs, Trafic E-Tech electric offers a choice of batteries to suit the workload. The 60kWh version is designed for urban journeys, while the 81kWh long range battery delivers up to 292 miles on the WLTP combined cycle.
Both versions use a 160kW electric motor producing 355Nm of torque, while a heat pump, aerodynamic design and efficient energy management help keep electricity consumption as low as 17.2kWh/100km. This makes it nearly 30% more efficient than nearest rivals.
When it’s time to recharge, Trafic E-Tech electric is designed to get straight back to work in as short a time as possible. Its 800V electrical architecture supports DC charging at up to 240kW with the 81kWh version, allowing an 80% charge in less than 20 minutes. It is also currently the only medium-sized electric van in the UK market with 800V electrical architecture.
Vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability adds another useful function to the toolbox, allowing compatible electrical equipment to be powered directly from the van’s battery. Whether it’s running tools on site or powering equipment away from the grid, Trafic E-Tech electric can supply electricity wherever the job takes it. This feature is standard on extra trim and optional on advance.
Ready for the heavy lifting
Compact enough to tackle tight city streets but with plenty of room for the day’s cargo, Trafic E-Tech electric proves that a capable working van doesn’t have to be difficult to live with.
With two body lengths of 4.87m and 5.27m, it offers between 5.1m3 and 5.8m3 of load space, enough for three Euro pallets. It complements this with a payload of up to 1.3 tonnes and the ability to tow up to 2 tonnes.
At just 1.89m tall, Trafic E-Tech electric can access many height-restricted parking areas, while a tight 10.3-metre turning circle – the same as a Renault Clio – makes light work of narrow streets, tight loading bays and awkward manoeuvres.
There’s plenty of thought for the person behind the wheel, too. The driver-focused cabin brings passenger-car comfort to the working day, with a fully digital instrument display, 12.3-inch touchscreen, 32 litres of storage space and rear suspension designed to keep the ride comfortable even when the road gets rough.
Plenty of kit for the job
With two well-equipped trim levels, advance and extra, Trafic E-Tech electric comes ready to work, without businesses having to dig deep into the options list for the technology they need.
Even advance models feature a 10-inch digital driver display, 12.3-inch openR evo multimedia system with wireless smartphone integration and Google Play Store access, adaptive cruise control, front, rear and side parking sensors, a reversing camera, automatic emergency braking and an electric parking brake with auto-hold. LED adaptive headlights, manual air conditioning, hands-free access and start, and vehicle-to-load capability are also included as standard.
For operators looking for a little more, extra adds metallic paint, additional airbags, automatic climate control, enhanced driver’s seat adjustment with lumbar support and armrest, wireless smartphone charging and HERE navigation. A mobile office configuration, 230V power sockets and additional load-area equipment make it even easier to turn the Trafic into a workplace on wheels.
UK pre-orders for the new Renault Trafic E-Tech electric open on 5th November, with the first deliveries scheduled for Q2 2027.
