  • MG landmark sales results in May and 2026 YTD (Jan to May 2026)
  • PHEV sales + 102.2% YTD and EV sales +64.7% YTD
  • MG electrified models (EV, PHEV, HEV) accounted for 91.4% of sales 2026 YTD
  • All-time sales record of 38,346 vehicles 2026 YTD (+9.4%)
  • Fleet sales + 10% YTD

MG welcomed a record number of UK customers in the first five months of 2026, with sales increasing by 9.4% to 38,346 vehicles and market share rising to 4.15%. This performance also saw MG climb to eighth place among the UK's top 10 best-selling automotive brands during the period.

Demand for MG's electrified vehicle range continued to accelerate, with Plug-in Hybrid sales increasing by 102.2% and Electric Vehicle sales up 64.7% year-to-date (January to May 2026). Electrified models - including Plug-in Hybrids, Electric Vehicles and Hybrid Vehicles - accounted for 91.4% of total sales, reflecting MG's commitment to making advanced technology and sustainable mobility accessible to more drivers.

This success builds on the launch of seven new models over the past 12 months, led by the all-new MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid and complemented by a strong lineup of competitive electric vehicles, including the MG4 EV Urban, updated MG4 EV, MGS5 EV, MGS6 EV and the MG IM range. It has also been supported by the continued enhancement of MG's class-leading Hybrid+ and multi award winning Plug-in Hybrid technology portfolio, further expanding customer choice across the electrified vehicle market.

Business and fleet customers have been a strategic focus for MG throughout 2026, contributing to a 10% increase in fleet sales year-to-date. In particular, the MG IM5 and MG IM6 have proven highly attractive to fleet decision-makers, thanks to their premium positioning, advanced technology, impressive driving range and ultra-fast charging capabilities.

“Achieving our strongest-ever year-to-date sales performance in the UK, while also setting new monthly sales records in both April and May, is a remarkable accomplishment. It reflects the growing appeal of the MG brand and the strength of our product line-up.

Our EV range is the most comprehensive and competitive it has ever been, while our advanced Plug-in Hybrid models provide an ideal pathway for customers looking to make the transition to electric driving.

I firmly believe that MG is one of the most exciting automotive brands in the UK today.” said David Allison, Director of Product and Planning, MG Motor UK.
