MG Motor UK has achieved its highest-ever monthly sales result, registering 18,026 vehicles in September and surpassing 18,000 registrations in a single month for the first time. The result is 2,150 vehicles ahead of the previous all-time record, set in March 2025, and takes MG to fourth place in the UK sales rankings for September.

September registrations increased by 3,449 vehicles, (23.7%), compared with the same month in 2025. MG secured a 5.14% market share, with its growth rate almost twice that of the overall new-car market, which rose 12% to 350,536 registrations.

The performance completed MG’s largest-ever quarter, with 30,189 registrations across July, August and September. It also marked a sixth consecutive month of record sales for the corresponding calendar month, extending the run that began in April.

MG has now sold 78,930 vehicles in the UK during 2026, an increase of 13,536 vehicles, (20.7%), compared with the same period last year. The brand holds a 4.54% year-to-date market share and ranks sixth overall. Private customer registrations are up 33%, substantially ahead of the 12.3% growth recorded across the wider retail market. True Fleet sales grew 22% in September, thanks to new models including MGS9 PHEV and Hybrid+ technology offerings leading the charge for MG in the corporate sector.

Electrified vehicles continue to power MG’s growth, with 91.6% of the month’s sales featuring an electrified powertrain. MG’s battery-electric sales are up 65.2% year to date, more than double the industry-wide increase of 30.3%.

David Allison, Director of Product and Planning, MG Motor UK, said: “September was a landmark month for MG in the UK, reflecting the breadth of our range and the confidence customers place in MG across Hybrid+, Plug-in Hybrid and fully electric powertrains. Our growth is also being supported by continued investment in the ownership experience and key updates to our most popular models. This momentum underscores the strength of our strategy, where we will continue to focus on customer value and long-term growth plans in both the private and corporate sectors.”

The sales milestone follows a month of product and customer-support developments. MG introduced upgraded versions of the MG3, MG ZS and MG HS, bringing smoother and quieter Hybrid+ driving as well as added comfort, convenience and cabin refinements across three of its most popular model ranges.

MG also achieved its first top-ten position in the 2026 What Car? Reliability Survey, placing ninth with a score of 92.0% and being named the survey’s most-improved brand. The MGS5 EV finished first in the small family electric SUV class, while the MG5 EV placed third among electric cars.

The result reflects continued investment in aftersales support, including a new parts distribution operation offering overnight deliveries and 96% first-time parts fulfilment in 2026 to date. MG has also expanded the Cecil Kimber College MG Academy at Longbridge, doubling its footprint to deliver additional technical expertise and customer mobility support.
