Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet named Best Convertible at 2026 What Car? Awards

22 January 2026. Milton Keynes, United Kingdom. The Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet has won Best Convertible at the 2026 What Car? Awards. With its standard AIRCAP® electric wind deflector system and AIRSCARF® heating system, the CLE Cabriolet benefits from 140 years of innovation, combining refined driving characteristics with a high level of everyday comfort for year-round open-air travel.
“No other convertible, at any price, is as good as the CLE Cabriolet at protecting its occupants from wind buffeting. Meanwhile, even on its standard, non-adaptive suspension it’s an incredibly smooth-riding car, soaking up all but the most egregious bumps. It’s a genuine four-seater, too, so a surprisingly practical choice. And the crisp infotainment screen electrically tilts to avoid glare from the sun, highlighting Mercedes’ attention to detail.”
Steve Huntingford, Editor, What Car?
Mercedes-Benz was also awarded Best Hybrid Executive Car for the plug-in hybrid E 300 e and, for the third year in a row, Best Hot Hatch for the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+. What Car? commended the E-Class for its electric range, ride quality and interior. The AMG A 45 was praised for its innovative 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, AMG-developed suspension and surefooted 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system.
