Eletre X: the new benchmark in combining supercar performance with efficiency

London, UK – 22 October 2026

Eletre X is built for drivers who refuse to compromise. The hybrid Hyper-SUV that gives you next-generation performance, sports car feel and a petrol car’s freedom, it delivers everything customers expect from a Lotus – dynamic, refined performance and deeply engaging driving – without asking them to choose between range, performance, practicality or long-distance capability.

Eletre X is the first vehicle built on Lotus’ proprietary X-Hybrid architecture, the first technology of its kind to come to market in Europe. It plays a key role in Lotus’ Focus 2030 strategy, as part of its multi-powertrain approach built around the customer.

X-Hybrid: electric-first performance, with extended range capabilities.

X-Hybrid blends battery electric vehicle (BEV) performance with internal combustion engine (ICE) support, delivering long-range flexibility and practicality alongside sustained high performance and Lotus’ trademark driver engagement.

  • Electric first – A 70 kWh, 900V battery with 11C high-discharge capability powers dual permanent magnet motors: 310 kW at the front and 390 kW at the rear. Below 85 km/h, only the electric motors drive the wheels.
  • Intelligent onboard power generation – A 150 kW onboard generator, powered by a 2.0-litre turbo engine, continuously replenishes available energy during driving. Unlike most hybrid systems, which rely on energy recovery alone, this delivers uninterrupted performance across extended journeys and demanding operating conditions.
  • Hybrid assistance where it’s most efficient – Above 85 km/h, the engine can also drive the front wheels directly.
  • Consistent, seamless driving experience – The system intelligently adapts energy deployment to speed, battery state of charge and driver demand, balancing pure EV driving, onboard power generation and hybrid assistance. A single-speed transmission means no gear changes.

For most daily driving, drivers never need to touch the engine, or rethink longer journeys around charging infrastructure.

Why X-Hybrid is unique to the market.

X-Hybrid is a technology like no other, and the first of its kind to come to market in Europe. Most hybrids add electric assistance to a petrol car. Eletre X does the opposite: it starts with the electric driving experience and adds the freedom to go further.

Four things set it apart:

  • It is electric first: Up to 305 km of electric range covers most drivers’ whole week, and below 85 km/h only the electric motors ever drive the wheels. There are no gear changes and no hesitation as systems switch over: it always feels like an EV.
  • It generates its own energy on the move: Most hybrids can only recover energy under braking. Eletre X’s 150 kW onboard generator continuously replenishes the battery while driving, even when cruising at motorway speeds.
  • Its performance doesn’t fade: In most hybrids, power drops as the battery drains. Eletre X’s 900V, 11C high-discharge battery keeps delivering: 0–100 km/h in 3.5 seconds even at 10% state of charge.
  • It is both series and parallel: The engine’s first job is to make electricity, but above 85 km/h it can also drive the front wheels directly, where a combustion engine is at its most efficient. It is not simply a generator.

The result is supercar performance, genuine electric range and up to 1,200 km of freedom, in one car, with zero compromise between them.

Efficiency without compromise

Supercar performance doesn’t have to mean supercar running costs. With most daily driving done on electricity, Eletre X combines CO² emissions under 50 g/km with running costs of around 19.9 cents per km (32.0 cents per mile)* – outstanding for an SUV with up to 952 PS.

  • Up to 305 km on electric power alone, enough for most daily driving.
  • Up to 1,200 km combined range from the 70 kWh battery and 52-litre fuel tank.
  • One of the fastest-charging electrified vehicles to come to market: 20–80% in approximately 9 minutes on a 450 kW DC charger – the time it takes to grab a coffee – with peak DC charging of up to 436 kW. 11 kW AC charging takes 7.2 hours from 0–100%.
  • Active aerodynamics with Lotus’ porosity philosophy directs air through as well as around the car, and an active grille shutter helps amplify efficiency. The active rear spoiler’s Aero mode cuts drag by 2.7%.
  • Lotus signature lightweight engineering with savings across the body frame, electric drive system and battery base plate leave the Eletre X up to 120 kg lighter than the Eletre 900.

One car, multiple characters for every environment

Eletre X can be a calm, refined SUV, a sharp-edged sports car or a capable companion off road, all at the touch of a button. Its drive modes reshape how the car responds, so it adapts to the driver.

  • Tour: keeps every journey smooth, quiet and balanced. The everyday setting for commuting, school runs and long motorway miles.
  • Sport: sharpens throttle, steering and suspension for more spirited driving, and the front seats tighten their grip to hold you in place. This is where the Lotus DNA comes to full effect.
  • Range: helps you go further on longer journeys by prioritising efficiency.
  • Off-road: takes Eletre X beyond the tarmac, for gravel tracks, snowy passes and the road to the chalet, helped by air suspension that can rise by up to 50 mm.
  • Individual: lets drivers fine-tune throttle, suspension, steering and traction to create their own perfect set-up.

Three power modes give drivers equal control over how the car uses its energy:

  • Pure EV: silent, zero-emission driving, ideal for city centres or arriving home quietly late at night.
  • EV Priority: uses the battery first and only calls on the engine in the most demanding driving situations – perfect for daily driving after charging overnight.
  • Hybrid: holds the battery at a level the driver chooses, so there’s electric range waiting at the destination, whether that’s a city low-emission zone or a campsite.

Together, they make Eletre X remarkably versatile – a quiet electric commuter on Monday, a long-distance family SUV on Friday and a sports car on the mountain pass in between.

A true Lotus chassis, engineered for precision and control

With nearly 80 years of performance engineering to draw on, Eletre X applies the Lotus DNA throughout its chassis and aerodynamic systems, developed to deliver the world-class dynamics, handling and driver feel that customers expect from Lotus.

  • 48V active anti-roll control (H1000): up to 1,400 Nm of roll-stabilising torque with a 10 ms response keeps body roll under 1.5° per g and decouples on rough roads for comfort.
  • Dual-chamber air suspension: 75 mm of height adjustment across five settings, with Comfort and Sport modes.
  • Dual-valve adaptive dampers: respond in as little as 2 milliseconds to changing road and load conditions.
  • Front double-wishbone and rear multi-link suspension.
  • Active rear spoiler: four positions, generating up to 120 kg of downforce under braking.
  • Brembo six-piston front brakes (H1000): 412 mm slotted discs for strong stopping performance and thermal recovery during repeated high-load use; 100–0 km/h in 33.9 m.
  • Custom-developed Pirelli P Zero 5 LTS tyres for wet adhesion and sustained high-speed stability.
  • Five drive modes: Tour, Sport, Off-Road, Range, and Individual.

All of this has been done to ensure Eletre X responds and handles like a Lotus – it is designed to feel much smaller and lighter than consumers would expect from a traditional SUV.

Refined inside and out

As soon as you step inside, Eletre X welcomes you – the seat glides back and the steering wheel retracts to make getting in effortless. Every touchpoint has been designed to make the car feel special, and to keep the driver connected to the drive.

  • A screen experience from the world of gaming: Lotus Hyper OS runs on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, the same real-time 3D technology behind some of the world’s biggest video games. The result is graphics that are fast, fluid and immersive, on a 15.1-inch mini-LED display. Co-pilot and rear passenger touchscreens mean everyone on board shares the experience.
  • Sound you can feel: a 23-speaker, 2,160 W KEF audio system with Uni-Q technology and Dolby Atmos wraps every occupant in rich, studio-grade spatial sound, turning every journey into a private concert.
  • Comfort for the long haul: front seats with multi-layer rebound foam and massage ease away the miles, while one-tap Sport mode tightens the bolsters when the road gets interesting.
  • Light and atmosphere: a super-sized panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with natural light, and ambient lighting sets the mood from the morning commute to a late-night arrival.
  • Focused on the drive: slim digital displays and a head-up display keep your eyes on the road, while analogue controls for primary functions keep you physically connected to the car.
  • Craftsmanship at every touchpoint: satin-woven 1K carbon fibre, engraved Italian Alcantara and hand-stitched details, alongside Wyron Truecycled, a pioneering upcycled textile that proves sustainability needn’t compromise on quality or character.
  • Fresh design: new front and rear styling, new air intakes and new interior colours including Citrine Yellow and Malachite Green.

Advanced technology and driver assistance

Advanced technology works quietly in the background, so drivers can relax on long journeys and stay confident in any conditions.

  • Thirty perception sensors, including 7 HD cameras, deployable or retractable LiDAR and 4D radar, powered by NVIDIA Thor computing, give 360-degree awareness around the car without ever intruding on the experience.
  • Intelligent navigation uses real-time traffic data to plan the most efficient route and any stops along the way.
  • The latest Lotus Hyper OS release further enhances the Eletre X digital experience, with expanded Android Digital Key support, greater interface and button customization, new dynamic 3D displays, smarter navigation, and a new manual battery pre-heating function to optimise charging in cold conditions.

SUV Practicality

Eletre X is as ready for real life as it is for the open road.

  • Tow up to 2,250 kg: from a horsebox to a boat or caravan.
  • Vehicle-to-load of up to 6 kW: power camping equipment, tools or an e-bike straight from the car’s battery.
  • Sized for family life: 5,103 mm long with a 3,019 mm wheelbase for generous space inside, yet an 11.8 m turning circle keeps it easy to manoeuvre in town.
