As announced in March at the presentation of its 2030 strategic plan, Dacia is expanding its range in the C-segment with Striker. Its latest model is a bold new alternative to SUVs, allowing the brand to reach new customers in both retail and business.

Designed to complement Bigster, Striker is a crossover with the same Dacia DNA – Robust and Outdoor, Essential and Cool and Eco-Smart – that the brand is famed for. It will contribute to Dacia’s ambition of increasing the C-segment share of total sales from 20% to 33% by 2030.

Dacia Striker combines the high driving position and outdoor capabilities of an SUV, the versatility and convenience of an estate and the efficiency and performance of a saloon. With a range of electrified powertrains, Striker will deliver the best value for money in its segment, further strengthening the unique offering of the Dacia brand.

The name “Striker” conveys the idea of “making a strike” or “hitting the target”. A surprising and visually stunning car, it reflects the ambitions of Dacia and its ability to embrace new challenges, offering an alternative for the C-segment that stays true to the values that are key to the brand’s success.

ROBUST & OUTDOOR: A CROSSOVER CREATING A NEW BALANCE
With Striker, Dacia is inviting C-segment customers to enter a new era and to explore a new take on the crossover.

More than just a combination of categories, Dacia Striker aims to establish a balance between different uses and expectations. Combining the performance of a saloon, the interior space of an estate and the robust design of an SUV, it offers a more comprehensive and relevant response to today’s needs.

This approach is reflected in a design that fuses flowing lines with more vertical contours, reflecting the vehicle’s dual nature: efficient on the road, but also able to cope easily with more demanding conditions.

David Durand, Design Director at Dacia, said: “Striker is a new and complementary response to current automotive expectations, based on a different balance to that of conventional SUVs.”

AN INNOVATIVE “HYBRID” DESIGN CONCEPT
Designed for performance and aerodynamics, Dacia Striker fuses horizontal lines – inspired by the elegant forms of saloons and estates – with the vertical contours that are characteristic of SUV styling.

The exterior design of Dacia Striker is organised around one central feature: a taut shoulder line linking the front and rear light clusters and structuring the body as a whole. This line is the backbone of the design, allowing for a clear interpretation on two levels, reflecting the dual nature of the vehicle.

Above the shoulder line, the contours are fluid and aerodynamic. The raked windscreen, elongated roofline and inclined rear window combine to create a sleek and dynamic profile. This section reflects the brand marker Essential and Cool, with an approach that is simple, clear and efficient, inspired by the elegance of saloons and estates.

Below the shoulder line, the contours are more structured and robust. The surfaces become more vertical, with generous ground clearance and strong proportions, underlining perceived strength and stability. This section reflects the brand marker Robust and Outdoor, inspired by SUV styling cues.

The integrated roof bars add a functional, outdoor finishing touch to the body, while maintaining the flow and coherence of the design.

Striker is the first vehicle to feature Dacia’s new ‘T’-shaped LED light signature, positioned at the four corners of the vehicle. Seamlessly integrated with the design, it lends visible structure to the front and rear ends through the combination of vertical and horizontal lines, contributing to a construction that is both strong and legible in appearance, in-keeping with the vehicle’s design language.

At the front, this signature is integrated in a gloss black grille with the iconic “Dacia Link” in the centre. Extending across the full width of the vehicle, it underlines its stance and perceived strength, further emphasised by a generous front bumper.

A similar approach is visible at the rear, where the light signature is integrated in a wide black strip, expressing strong visual coherence with the front end. Featuring the Dacia name in embossed lettering, the strip accentuates the more vertical lines of the lower tailgate, emphasising the robust and structured character of the overall design.

ELEGANT PROPORTIONS AND STANCE
The crossover design of Striker fuses elegant, dynamic lines with generous proportions, for interior comfort and a commanding on-road presence, underlined by the large 17-inch wheels with 18- and 19-inch wheels available as an option.

The crossover concept is reflected in the dimensions of Striker.  The vehicle is 4.62m long, similar to a C-segment estate. While ground clearance is equivalent to that of a C-segment SUV (20cm for the 4x4 and 19cm for the 4x2), it stands just 1.53m tall, compared with over 1.60m for C-segment SUVs, for a level of performance more closely resembling a saloon.

The elegant design of Striker is underlined by a range of seven colours available from the expression trim, including two new shades: Frost Green and Cosmic Blue.

READY FOR FAMILY GETAWAYS AND LONG JOURNEYS
Reflecting the Robust and Outdoor DNA of Dacia, Striker adapts to a variety of uses, from active getaways to long journeys with the family. The trim levels reflect two complementary approaches, depending on individual needs and lifestyles.

The Extreme trim is aimed at more active users, who see their vehicle as the ideal exploration partner. Robust, practical and easy to use, it is designed to carry leisure gear and equipment with ease. Off-road driving is easy with the generous ground clearance, reinforced – depending on the model – by the 4x4 transmission and hybrid 150 4x4 powertrain.

The design and features reflect this intensive use: exterior protection in Starkle®, a hard-wearing untreated material; washable Microcloud synthetic TEP upholstery, and rubber floor mats including 50% recycled material, making Striker easy to use and maintain from day to day.

Designed to be loaded, handled and used without limits, Striker Extreme takes a direct, functional approach to outdoor activities, without compromising on performance or aerodynamics.

In contrast, the Journey trim focuses more on comfort and peace of mind, for long journeys and trips with the family. The emphasis is on a more relaxed driving experience, with a range of features designed to enhance interior comfort: power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, mixed fabric and Microcloud TEP upholstery, and a power tailgate.

With its optimised aerodynamics and real driving comfort, Striker becomes the ideal travelling companion, covering long distances in a quiet, controlled environment.

The downhill speed control function – standard on Striker extreme – acts on the brakes to prevent any loss of control, for example on steep slopes with poor grip, providing greater peace of mind and allowing the driver to focus on the road.

ESSENTIAL AND COOL: AN INNOVATIVE AND FUNCTIONAL INTERIOR
The interior design, materials, technology and features of Striker reaffirm Dacia’s commitment to practical innovation, ease of use from day to day, and comfort for longer journeys.

A NEW COCKPIT CONCEPT
The dashboard takes the exterior design approach through to the interior with a distinctive horizontal layout contributing to a sense of space and wraparound comfort.

For clear, intuitive use, it features a three-tier structure organised in levels: from the functions closest to users to the structural and technical features.

The first level, which is closest to the occupants, focuses on comfort and perceived quality. This is reflected in the use of warm materials and primarily textile surfaces, along with a touch of Starkle® continuing onto the front doors for a coherent wraparound effect. Used in the interior of a Dacia model for the first time, this material is part of the brand’s Eco-Smart approach.

The second level takes a more functional, structured approach. It groups the most frequently used controls, accessible through physical controls designed to be operated intuitively, while continuing to focus on the road. This organisation contributes to simple, straightforward and intuitive use from day to day.

The third level, set further back, provides access to the interface and display features. In particular, it includes the 10.1-inch central touch screen, standard across the range. Depending on the trim, it is combined with either Media Display or Media Nav Live. This last system includes connected navigation with real-time traffic information and map updates for eight years, as well as an Arkamys 3D Sound System with six speakers.

Continuing this focus on the essentials, the LightVisio digital instrument cluster reflects the smart innovation approach that is specific to Dacia. Fitted as standard across the entire range, this 7-inch display uses optical reflection, a technology that projects key information in the form of a 3D floating image. Information is clear and easy to read with a non-intrusive presentation that also conveys a sense of depth. Horizontal air vents at either end extend the width of the dashboard, and echo the T-shaped exterior light signature.

The interior also includes a range of features designed to make everyday life easier.

A cable run extends from the storage compartment opposite the passenger to the centre console, concealing cables for a tidier look. As part of the same approach, an ice scraper is discreetly integrated into the dashboard, easily accessible but concealed when the door is closed.

The centre console is a key component of the in-car experience. Tall and enveloping, it organises the environment around the driver with generous, modular storage solutions, including a 6.7-litre compartment under the armrest and, depending on the version, a sliding drawer. The set-up is completed by removable cup holders, which can be repositioned around the cabin using the YouClip anchor points.

Developed by Dacia, YouClip lets you attach various accessories easily and securely at key points around the passenger compartment. With up to nine points around the vehicle, YouClip provides considerable flexibility in terms of layout, adapting to everyday use and also trips with the family.

Striker also introduces three new accessories: a water-bottle holder, a blanket that doubles as a children’s play mat, and a multi-purpose net that can be used to carry objects or fitted between the front seats.

SPACE AND COMFORT FOR ALL THE PASSENGERS
Ideal for trips with the family, Striker offers the space and comfort necessary to accommodate five passengers and their luggage on long journeys.

The interior conveys a sense of openness and space, underlined by the availability of a panoramic glass roof covering most of the interior. Using advanced technology, the roof is made from low-emissivity glass, with multiple layers and invisible filters to improve the thermal and acoustic insulation of the passenger compartment.  Available as standard on the extreme trim and as an option with journey, it makes a real contribution to interior comfort, letting in the light and promoting a sense of relaxation on longer journeys.

Extensive work has been carried out on the overall comfort of  Striker, particularly in terms of acoustic insulation. Right from the design stage, particular emphasis was placed on reducing wind noise through aero-acoustic optimisation,  backed by the use of sound-absorbing materials and thicker glass for the windscreen and front windows.

Passenger comfort is further enhanced by the carefully designed seats. At the front, a highly contoured design delivers optimum support, while the driver’s seat is power adjustable on Striker journey. At the rear, passengers gain a fold-down centre armrest with a built-in cup holder (on both Extreme and Journey trim levels).

Driving comfort is optimised with the Autohold system, available on a Dacia model for the first time. Fitted as standard from the Expression trim, Autohold maintains the vehicle at a complete standstill without any effort on the driver’s part, for greater comfort in urban driving.

Similarly, the front fog lights include a cornering light that illuminates the bend as the vehicle turns into it, thereby improving visibility when driving in difficult conditions.

Striker complies with the latest European safety standard, GSR2, including the following as standard on all trim levels: automatic emergency braking (for urban and suburban driving, with detection of vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and motorbikes), traffic sign recognition and speed alert, rear parking assist, emergency stop signal, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, advanced driver attention monitoring system and emergency call (eCall).

Striker will also feature adaptive cruise control as standard, alongside an optional ADAS pack featuring the blind-spot warning function, automatic emergency braking when reversing, occupant safe exit alert, intersection automatic emergency braking, RCTA (rear cross-traffic alert) and a multi-view camera.

To make life easier for customers, Dacia has linked these systems with an ingenious function called “My Safety”. This allows the driver to recall specific ADAS preferences from their personal settings when they start the car, so they do not have to repeat the operation every time.

A SPACIOUS, PRACTICAL AND INNOVATIVE LOADING AREA
Dacia’s engineers devoted considerable attention to the design of Striker’s boot. With a capacity of up to 600 litres – among the best in the C-segment – the boot features a range of practical features that make it ideal for everyday use.

The innovative hands-free system, Easy Trunk Opening, opens the power tailgate automatically. With this new function, the vehicle initiates a warning sequence – indicators and sound alert – and opens the power tailgate automatically when the user stands less than one metre away for a few seconds with the hands-free card. The Easy Trunk Opening system is standard on Striker journey and available as an option on Striker extreme.

With the boot open, users can access a stiff luggage cover – standard on all Striker models – hinged in two sections for greater access to the load space. If required, both parts can be stored in the space under the floor.

In a first for Dacia, Striker features an innovative three-part boot floor (standard on Extreme and Journey) allowing the load space to be divided up as required, to hold objects in place and prevent them from moving around.  The three-part floor can be laid flat across two levels: the upper level creates a concealed storage space underneath and provides a flat loading area when the rear seats are folded, while the lower level maximises load volume. All three floor sections are reversible, with carpeting on one side and a more durable, easy-to-clean material on the other.

The Easy Fold system lets you fold down the rear seats (60/40 split) from the boot using two handles conveniently located on either side of the load space. Two tabs at the top of the rear bench seat also ensure easy folding from the rear seats.

ECO-SMART: DACIA STRIKER, OPTIMISED TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP
One of the main objectives of Dacia’s engineers in designing Striker was to deliver the best Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) in relation to other C-segment models, both SUVs and estates.  With its electrified powertrains, CO₂ emissions of under 100g (for the Hybrid 155), and aerodynamic design, Striker delivers an optimised TCO, an advantage that is even more important in the light of fluctuating fuel prices.

METICULOUSLY DESIGNED AERODYNAMICS
Particular emphasis was placed on the aerodynamics of Striker, which are key to its efficiency.  First, engineers made the most of the opportunities offered by the crossover design: low height, long roofline, raked rear end, and so on. They also looked at details that could minimise aerodynamic interference: fairings on the front and rear underbody sections, a wide rear spoiler, and deflectors.

With a drag coefficient of 0.29, Dacia Striker is well positioned in relation to C-segment estates and SUVs, reflecting the crossover concept.

MODERATE WEIGHT
Weighing around 1,400 kg (provisional figures pending homologation), depending on the powertrain and trim, Dacia Striker is lighter than C-segment SUVs and well placed in relation to the average for C-segment estates.

A COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF HYBRID POWERTRAINS
Dacia Striker is available with a choice of efficient, advanced, electrified powertrains.

Striker Hybrid 155 offers the performance and efficiency of a hybrid.
This powertrain comprises a 109 hp 1.8-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, two electric motors (a 49 hp motor and a high-voltage starter/generator), a 1.4 kWh battery (280V) and an automatic electric gearbox with four gears for the ICE engine and two others for electric operation. This combined technology is made possible by the absence of a clutch.

Combining regenerative braking with the high energy recovery capacity of the battery and the efficiency of the automatic gearbox, Striker is able to remain in all-electric mode up to 80% of the time in the city. Further, it always starts up in all-electric mode. Striker Hybrid 155 has CO2 emissions of less than 100g/km.

Striker Hybrid 150 4x4 offers four-wheel drive for efficiency and peace of mind.
This new powertrain combines:

  • On the front axle, a 1.2-litre 48V mild-hybrid engine producing 103 kW (140 hp) / 230 Nm, coupled with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddles;
  • On the rear axle, an electric motor developing peak output of 23 kW (31 hp) and 87 Nm of torque with a two-speed automatic gearbox, all disengageable.

The advantage of this set-up is to deliver high rear-wheel torque at low speeds for off-road driving in first gear, while also offering the handling and fuel economy of a 4x2 vehicle when the rear axle is disengaged. In driving modes (Auto / Eco / Snow), the 4x4 system remains “on standby” and engages when necessary at speeds of up to 140 km/h.

All-electric driving phases are in front-wheel drive mode and represent up to 60 per cent of driving time in and around cities. Other driving phases include rear-wheel drive with the ICE alone, and a combination of the ICE and electric motor, for maximum combined output of 110 kW (150 hp).

Striker Hybrid 150 4x4 features five driving modes for all situations:

  • Auto, where the vehicle automatically manages the switch between 4x2 and 4x4 modes
  • Eco for maximum fuel savings, switching to 4x4 mode on low-grip surfaces;
  • Snow, a 4x4 mode for roads with low grip.
  • Mud/Sand, a 4x4 mode optimised for loose ground.
  • Off-Road for off-road driving on rugged terrain at low speeds.

Further, Hill Descent Control maintains a constant speed (between 3 and 30 km/h) on slippery downhill gradients for optimum control, as standard on the extreme trim.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
As part of its Eco-Smart approach, Dacia is proud to use a large proportion of sustainable materials on Striker. Overall, Striker contains over 32% of materials sourced from the circular economy(0). With Striker, Dacia is further stepping up its efforts: this new model includes 47kg(1) of recycled plastics, 3.4kg more than Bigster and 5.5kg more than Duster. This is a record for the Dacia brand and more than double the average figure for the European market(2).

Like other recent Dacia models, Striker uses Starkle®, a material developed by the brand’s engineers, on a number of exterior parts (bumpers, wheel arch extensions and side protection). Starkle® contains between 15% and 20% recycled polypropylene and is used unpainted, further reducing the carbon footprint of its manufacturing process. For the first time in the passenger compartment (on the door panels and dashboard) Striker includes parts containing up to 80% recycled polypropylene (of which 40% post-consumer material).

These efforts continue with the new accessories developed for Striker, such as the floor mats on the Extreme trim, which contain 50% recycled rubber, and the YouClip bottle holder, which contains 70% recycled plastic.

As part of a more environmentally-friendly approach, Dacia has opted to stop using leather and chrome trim on its models and to limit the use of paper.  As a result, Striker’s in-car user manual has been condensed to include only safety-related information, while a full, interactive digital version is available via the My Dacia app (with or without an account) and on the Dacia website.

A SIMPLE AND COMPREHENSIVE RANGE
In keeping with the Dacia approach of clear, simple model ranges meeting the needs of all customers, Striker is available in four trim levels like the rest of the range.

Essential is the entry-level trim. Expression is the mid-range trim, setting higher standards in comfort. At the top of the range and at comparable prices, the Extreme trim is aimed specifically at outdoor enthusiasts, with its panoramic roof, automatic hill descent control and rubber floor mats, while the Journey trim is designed for customers seeking even greater comfort, with features including an automatic power tailgate, wireless smartphone charger and power-adjustable driver’s seat.
