  • Two Citroën SUVs were recognised in the RAC’s inaugural New Car Awards, with Highly Commended awards for both C3 Aircross and New C5 Aircross
  • The RAC’s experienced in-house editorial team, representing one of Britain’s most iconic automotive brands, praised the Citroën SUVs’ space, comfort and value

Citroën’s SUVs, C3 Aircross and New C5 Aircross, have won Highly Commended awards at the RAC New Car Awards 2026. They were tested and assessed by the RAC’s in-house editorial team, which brings together more than 35 years of combined automotive experience. The cars were evaluated against their rivals using a 10-point scoring system across seven key criteria: value, running costs, safety, practicality, ride and handling, interior and technology, and performance.

Built in Europe, Citroën C3 Aircross offers customers exceptional space, generous equipment and signature Citroën comfort. With a range of powertrains including Electric, Hybrid and Turbo Petrol, and featuring up to seven seats, there’s a C3 Aircross to suit every family.

Dan Powell, RAC Drive’s editor, said: “The Citroen C3 Aircross is a small SUV that delivers big results when it comes to space and value. Both the electric and petrol versions are strong all-rounders, while the option of seven seats adds remarkable practicality. Easy to drive, comfortable and exceptionally versatile, it's a package that stands out in the small SUV class.”

New C5 Aircross redefines the family SUV with its comfort, refinement and practicality. Its distinctive exterior design confers an assured presence on the road, with its aerodynamic qualities bringing real-world efficiency. The C5 Aircross range features two Electric options – Comfort Range and Long Range, the latter offering up to 423 miles (WLTP combined cycle) – as well as Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid engines. Its spacious and innovative interior is complemented by Citroën’s Advanced Comfort ® seats, whilst its Advanced Comfort ® suspension provides a supreme ride on the roughest roads.

Dan Powell of RAC Drive said: “The Citroen C5 Aircross continues to raise the bar for comfort in the family car class. From its soft ride quality to its wonderfully supportive seats, the spacious and refined C5 Aircross delivers where it matters most. It also offers excellent value for money, thanks to its generous equipment levels and competitive pricing.”

Priced from £31,030 OTR, with full electric versions starting from £34,085 OTR, New C5 Aircross offers remarkable value across its three trim levels. C3 Aircross starts from £22,495 OTR for the Turbo 100hp manual version, with electric versions available from £25,115 OTR.
